Proud we stand in our 'field'. Always happy to help everyone... you are most welcome at Braxton Gardens.
Sarah and Si became the new owners of Braxton Gardens in May 2011 and in the few weeks before the grand re-opening on the 18th June they transformed the neglected garden to it’s current level of tranquility and beauty. The gardens are constantly being tended and nurtured by Si. There are new vegetable corners with carrots, beans, rocket, peas and lettuce growing and the new herb corners which have been planted with Rosemary, Angelica, Mint, Hyssop, Thyme, Coriander, Dill and Calendula to name a few (Sarah`s new kitchen garden!) which were grown by The Happy Herbs Company now based at Braxton Gardens.
Outside, the gravel paths lead to the colourful central parterre which is surrounded by extremely well kept lawns where quite often you will find the bespoke mower purring away whilst you enjoy your tea and sandwiches! Si is always about, whether pruning, edging, mowing or busy in the kitchen, always happy to help you with gardening questions or advice.
There are three mature fruit trees at Braxton situated in the walled garden. A Mulberry, a Fig and a Quince, which we have made jam from, available seaonally. The tea room has been renamed 'Muffins Galore!', serving delicious home made muffins, cream teas, plain, fruit & gluten free scones and light lunches, all scones and muffins are available to order with over 30 flavours of muffins to choose from.
“Essentially, as a tea room, and being vegetarian ourselves, we serve delicious vegetarian fare. We know this can be a little daunting to those who enjoy their more carnivorous side, but we hope everyone will enjoy a visit to Muffins Galore!, with plenty of choice for everybody” Sarah says.
As well as the perfectly striped lawns there is a lily pool to explore, where the fish are illusive (but there!) Braxton’s retail nursery is now open where you can purchase your herbs for your herb garden. The Rose Garden unfortunately was very overgrown, but with a lot of hard work it has now been pruned and weeded which means that during the warmer months it is a beautifully scented, serene garden to relax in. The canopy has been beautifully enclosed, incorporating a log burner and new relaxing seating giving our beloved customers an enchantingly warm and cosy place to enjoy good coffee and cake! There is a small shop which sells locally produced Jams, pickles and honey and of course you can always order your muffins or scones to be enjoyed at home! Sarah and Si will give you the warmest welcome, whatever the weather, so feel free to come and visit!
